We can’t deny Tesla’s innovations and style which make it an appealing deal for lots of modern drivers over the world. However, it looks like the major world automakers are not going to pull up the rear, so there are many other electrified options that you might want to consider over Teslas in 2021.

2020 Jaguar I-Pace

The Jaguar I-Pace is one of Tesla’s bigger competitors in the first wave of posh electric crossovers. This crossover has a 234-mile all-electric range and offers a smooth ride quality. Its sophisticated style makes it extremely appealing to buyers. Critics have praised the I-Pace for its adaptive suspension and quick acceleration. Besides, the I-Pace offers a lavish cabin that’s comfortable enough for long car rides. The I-Pace also has a modern infotainment system that has plenty of smartphone connection features. To top it off, there are numerous safety features including clear exit monitor and a perpendicular park assist function.

2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E

Ford has already proven that it’s ready to brawl with Tesla with the brand-new Mustang Mach-E electric crossover. The Mach-E has a driving range of up to 300 miles. Both all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive configurations are estimated to achieve a 10% to 80% charge in approximately 45 minutes charging on a DC fast charging station. The Mach-E has specifically garnered attention for its quick speed going from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Ford is also taking direct aim at Tesla by offering its own hands-free driving system called Active Drive Assist. This system is supposed to be less complicated than the AutoPilot features offered by Tesla.

Audi E-tron

The 2021 Audi E-tron and E-tron Sportback are all-electric luxury crossovers that straddle the line between the present and the future. The Audi E-tron is a very compelling luxury, non-Tesla EV. The E-tron is about in between the Tesla Model X and Model Y in terms of size. Their refined driving manners and serene interior spaces are similar to the non-electric Audi. All-wheel-drive powertrains deliver up to 222 miles of EPA estimated driving range. One of the biggest perks of the E-tron is its ability to add a lot of miles very quickly into the battery. When the state of charge is low, the E-tron can charge at a high rate of kilowatts. Although the 2021 E-tron and E-tron Sportback have shorter driving ranges than the Jaguar or Tesla, Audi believes this more conservative approach will make the transition from traditional gas-fed models to all-electric vehicles easier for buyers.

Porsche Taycan

The Tesla Model S also has a decent competitor in the Porsche Taycan. The highly anticipated, ultra performance carmaker released the Taycan in 2021. Most Taycan models feature dual electric motors, with one powering the front wheels and the other powering the rears. They produce separate outputs that vary by trim level. Everyone will be impressed by its prompt acceleration and point-and-shoot handling. This, along with the car’s low-slung driving position and precise steering, is what makes the Porsche special among electric vehicles.  The Taycan is an absolutely amazing vehicle for those ready to spend over $100,000 on a car.

BMW i4

The new BMW i4 is the brand’s first electric sedan and is an alternative to the Tesla Model 3 for about $45,000. The i4 is based on the upcoming BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe and will go on sale in Autumn 2021. With a range of up to 363 miles* (WLTP), the purely electrically powered vehicle offers new levels of versatility and should be perfect for everyday use. The almost silent drive and the optimised suspension technology give the impression of a vehicle effortlessly gliding towards its destination, even at higher speeds and in more difficult traction conditions. The BMW i4 will also be compatible with powerful 150kW charging points – meaning you can recharge the batteries from empty to 80% full just in 35 minutes.
